Activities

This study abroad is primarily an immersion based program in which participants live with a host family and spend mornings in an Italian classroom/school. However, there are some whole group activities during the program such as a weekly meeting followed by pizza and gelato, afternoon visits to schools, and a visit to the Museo Deportato (about the Holocaust; http://www.fondazionefossoli.org/it/).

Each participant will also have an opportunity to choose one of the following activities (due to the pandemic, activities may vary):

  • Participate in a play in English at Falco Magico, the children's library

  • Visit La Lucciola, a school serving students with special needs

  • Spend a morning in a high school

We  also travel as a group to follow locations for the primary purpose of sight-seeing (due to the pandemic, location may change due to tourist restrictions that some cities are considering):

  • Florence/Firenze: 3 days, 2 nights

  • Venice/Venezia: 2 days, 1 night

  • Modena, Verona or Montava

Finally, we will have an end-of-the program party to thank families, teachers, and the community of Carpi for hosting us for a month.
