Course Credit, Cost and Financial Aid
Course Credit
Academic credit is obtained through The University of Kansas. Students may in enroll in:

C&T 648: An International Teaching Experience (3 credits, undergraduate)
or
-
C&T 748: An International Teaching Experience (3 credits, graduate)

Non-KU students will receive credit, but how that credit transfers can vary between KU and other universities. Non KU students should contact their Office of Study Abroad and/or Office of Registrar to learn more about how credit transfers.

All students participating in this study abroad program are charged tuition at in-state rates by The University of Kansas.

Estimated Cost
Program costs are divided into these main categories:

Program fees that cover program expenses including, but not limited to, making all local arrangements, recruiting and preparing families and schools, translating documents, ground transportation (e.g., from and to airport, local field trips, weekend group travel), lodging in Florence and Venice, faculty business expenses, welcome lunch and end-of-the-program party. ~$4,065

KU tuition (3 credits) and KU Office of Study Abroad fees are charged in accordance with university's rates and policies

KU undergraduate: ~ $1, 635

Non KU undergraduate: ~ $1,850 (additional fees may be required by your own university)

Airfare (round trip) estimated to be approximately $1,800.

We do work with a travel agent but participants may make their own travel arrangements in order to find a flight at a lower cost and/or use points/mileage.

Personal expenses including, but limited to, souvenirs, gifts, independent activities or special activities with families (e.g, museums, meals outs).

Passport: ~$200 or 180€.

Small gift for family and host class: ~ $50.

Pizza ($16.40 or 15€) and gelato ($2.75 or 2.50€) for participants and host siblings: ~$60 or 55€.

Souvenirs, incidentals and other personal expenses such as meals in Florence and Venice: ~ $500 recommended

Uffizi Museo: ~$45 or 40€ for a 2 ½ hour guided tour in English

Accademia to see The David: ~$22 or 20€, self-guided

Accidental Tourist (hiking or cooking in Tuscany) : ~$200 or 180€ – all day, includes lunch

Venice:

Palazzo Ducale: ~$28 or 25€ for a 2 ½ hour guided tour in English

Financial Aid or Scholarships
KU Students: For information about financial aid or scholarships, please visit 108 Lippincott Hall or call 785-864-3742 to set up an appointment. KU students who qualify for financial aid in the form of Stafford and/or other loans, Federal Grants, and KU or outside scholarships may apply the aid to the cost of a Study Abroad Program.

KU Study Abroad supplemental scholarships are available to KU degree seeking students. Applications are available online. The scholarship application deadline is March 1 for Summer and Fall.
